Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and often finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

"Little Lord Jesus" Christian Christmas Art
mmWishing all of you who visit this blog a wonderfully meaningful Christmas!
mmThis art is a drawing I did in 1976, as a fairly new Christian. At the time, I couldn't find anything with a thoughtful message for Christmas cards. Most of what I found was on the theme of Happy Christmas Tree. The Lord having changed my life, I wanted to share a more significant point.
mmSo, the Lord gave me this idea, which I had printed up as cards. I sent about 150 to family and friends. Later, I produced a line of Christian prints which I named Renaissance. Among them is this piece. You can see them at my website Inspirational page or my Etsy gallery.

Break from Painting a Day
mmI'm on vacation from the painting a day project until after the New Year. During December I'm devoting more time to family, Christmas preparations and finishing up commissions. Even "on vacation" I might be doing a few daily paintings, though, so don't forget about me!

"Cactus Fruit" Still Life Daily Painting
Original small oil painting 5"x7"
Still life with green cactus fruit on blue and white plate.
Gold frame $155.
Purchase here.
This is one of the pieces I started when we were visiting in Oregon for Thanksgiving. During a lull in activities, I sat at our friends' kitchen table in the sunlight and painted the cactus pear.
My friend Lori had the smooth blue and white plate on hand that made a nice contrast to the prickly green fruit. I'd discovered it at the grocery store back home, and had packed it in the car for the trip in case I had any time to paint. I had also brought my little cigar paint box. (Artists sometimes bring along the most unusual items on trips. I'm just glad I didn't have to go through airport security and explain the cactus).

My Daily Painters Article for Art Calendar Magazine
mmWell It's been entirely too long since I've posted a new painting. Please accept my sincerest apologies!
mmMy life for the past 3 weeks has been busy with other necessary chores. My paints and brushes have just been sitting waiting for me in my bedroom studio. I spent a week in Moscow (Idaho) getting started on dresses for Katie's wedding. Her dress of silk is cut out and fitted, and the complicated petticoat is half finished. Bess' matron of honor dress is finished. The 2 flower girl dresses are cut out.
mmOur week in Oregon for Thanksgiving was a joy, being with friends and all our kids who met us there. I actually managed to fit in some painting even while visiting, and with the cooking I helped do. I'm hoping to put finishing touches on the paintings soon, and post them.
mmToday I turned in an article to Art Calendar Magazine that I've been finishing up this past week. The piece focuses on DailyPainters.com and how buyers are finding artists there. I hope you'll see it when it comes out in February.
