Original unframed oil painting, 7"x 5" $149.
Painting of a still life of torn and crumpled gold paper on which a face appears. ©2009 Diana Moses Botkin
This is the painting I was working on when the power went out a few days ago. I know some folks might wonder at the symbolism, but really there is no deep meaning. The idea is simply a continuation of the gold paper studies combined with thoughts of our DailyPainter Self-Portrait Day. Because this one wasn't finished, I posted an earlier self-portrait.
No doubt some art critic will attach some dark interpretation to this odd painting. I hope you'll set him straight and say I'm just playing around, hoping to learn something and make an interesting painting.
Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and often finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

art critix...fart critix...I think it is wonderful! Perhaps a happy accident, the kind that appear in my watercolors sometimes.
Your gold paper studies are like my crystal studies I did a few years ago. Had a ball with them.
Thanks Vicki, for the vote of confidence. It was an interesting (and occasionally fun) challenge so that was enough for me. Crystal studies sound quite enjoyable and full of possibilities.
The edges on that paper are perfect!
Perfect?! really? I'm glad you think so, Lisa. Thanks for dropping by.
Great image. Don't tell anyone there is no deeper meaning. Let them come up with one. It makes them feel proud and knowledgeable.
Hmmm... that's probably so, Bill.
