These are the pick of the litter of some longer poses from our last model session at our Artists' Salon.

The study at left was painted in pastel on wet paper. For the study on the right I utilized my favorite drawing technique with willow charcoal and chalk on charcoal paper.
If you've never used this forgiving medium, you can watch my YouTube video to see how to try it yourself.
Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and often finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

Beautiful! I love these shorter poses. The model is able to hold a more interesting pose than would normally be comfortable for an all day session.
An all day session sounds great, though! These studies are wonderful exercise and have an interesting appeal, but I'd love to paint some more finished pieces.
Diana love your figurative charcoals! You got a lot in there for the short session!
Thank you, Erika. Working from the live figure in these poses is always a good challenge and I think informs my other work too.
Beautiful studies Diana! I always enjoy seeing your work, and your figures are done so well!

Thanks for dropping by David. The figure continues to be such a marvelous inspiration. God's creation is full of wonderful subjects to paint, including His highest creation, woman.
