Original oil on linen 12"x14"
Commissioned portrait
©2009 Diana Moses Botkin
This is the latest commission I've finished; a very special portrait of two sisters years ago. One of these dear children is now with the Lord and the parents asked me to paint this moment in time as a surprise for the sister.
What a privilege to be part of the process for such a wonderful gift idea.
Welcome to my Art Blog! I paint or draw most weekdays and often finish a painting a day. I fondly call them my "Postcards from Paradise" because it's such a beautiful place the Lord made here for us.

Diana, I truly believe THIS is what the Lord created you for. You are awesome at the human figure and at capturing emotions and relationships between people. I am blessed in a small way as compared to the huge blessing this family must have felt upon viewing this gorgeous painting.
Thank you, Donna. This was one of the harder, more tedious pieces I've painted lately, due to the nature of the lighting and other difficulties in the existing photo. It really exhausted me to paint this; I'm glad the relationship and feeling came through.
Very sad but beautiful!
Like many happy memories of times past, the sadness is mixed with the joy of the remembrance and the people who were there.
