This piece is for an upcoming show "All Creatures Great and Small", opening Friday in Sandpoint, Idaho.
I've been wanting to try painting more insects after being inspired by fellow artist and Challenge member, Suzanne Berry. This show was the perfect push.
A few years ago I portrayed an ant in "The Traveler". I figure I'm long overdue to try painting more small wonders like this fellow.
Bumblebees are fun to watch and it's amazing that they fly at all. A friend told me recently that on cold mornings, you can actually pet them as they nurse on the flowers.
